Announcement: Florence announced that our October 7th meeting will be in the evening and outside, weather permitting. It will be an Octoberfest and will cost $25 per person.
Guest: Ken Schwinn came down for a visit from upstate New York.
Program: This program, Zoe (Hassman) and her cello was the brainchild of John Devol who will have other musicians perform for our club. Zoe has played both as a solo performer and in ensembles with such stars as Barbra Streisand. The title of her presentation was “From Bach to Pop.”
The first piece was Bach and was followed by
-Baroque in rhythm by Claude Bolling. Then
-Someone to watch over me by George Gershwin
-Riff by Peter Schickele, the discoverer of Bach’s long lost son PDQ Bach, the author of “Concerto for Horn and Hardardt, and “Iphegenia in Brooklyn.”
-Make someone happy by Julie Stein
-Broadway by Aaron Minsky
- and finally “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” By Duke Ellington
