The Words We Shouldn't Call Women!

Englewood born and bred Lizzie Skurnick - writer, critic and editor - is an author we have heard on NPR or read in the New York Times Book Review, whose reviews and essays have appeared across the country.  Lizzie's father lives in Englewood, near Dwight Morrow High School where Lizzie graduated with honors in 2001.

Known for her insight and advocacy of young adult literature (YA) Skurnick is the author of Shelf Discovery, YA books of the 60s, 70s, and 80s whose critical story lines resonate especially today.  Lizzie is the author of the super clever 'That Should Be a Word' a compendium of words for the modern age, based on her New York Times Book Review column of the same name that ran from 2011 to 2014.

Lizzie and her son Javier live in Jersey City where the Statue of Liberty embraces them as they shape the world.
